I was watching Girl Meets Farm with Molly Yeh when I saw her making these treats. My dad, who was raised Jewish, remembered rugelach fondly from his childhood. I decided to take a crack at it! The recipe requires a bit of time and patience, but is quite fun and rewarding in the end. One word of advice, though; do not make these in a kitchen without air conditioning (like I did). It got messy very quickly, as the hot air plus the heat from my hands made the butter in the dough start melting, causing a more difficult time than it needed to be. Still, I covered the imperfections with sprinkles and they turned out great! I used semi sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate and received many compliments. I saw a similar recipe for rugelach filled with Nutella and topped with sesame seeds in my Simple, by Ottolenghi, cookbook that I will be trying soon. Happy baking!
