The loaf was not originally intended to resemble a turtle but the extra lump was so cute I had to keep it! This recipe was a test of my patience and strength (literally), but the results were so worth it. I got it from the same book as the butternut squash recipe! From start to finish this loaf took me 22 hours to make 😳. The book also called for an electric mixer - which I do not have, so I had to hand-knead and mix for a longgg time. My weak arms were sore for approximately 2 days after lol. The recipe calls for many kinds of flours, but I just used regular white flour for everything and it turned out fine.
Despite the trials and tribulations, the bread was in the words of my dad "professional." It was a great texture and flavor and I enjoyed eating it with a little salted butter or olive oil! For the last mixing step, perhaps because I was using my hands in lieu of a machine, I found the dough too wet and had to add an extra 4 tablespoons of flour. I also did not include the dark malt powder because I have no clue what that is. Overall, ambitious but delicious!
